Netflix and Amazon and their Social Media Use

Many companies now use Facebook and Twitter too for social media advertising. Today I want to discuss how Netflix and Amazon utilizes them and I want to start off with Netflix first.

Netflix uses Facebook for advertising through the use of Facebook's marketing API's.  Facebook has a large user base which is why Netflix uses Facebook as place to gain more customers. Netflix uses Facebook's marketing API's by creating an ad and having it tweaked slightly to meet and incite every type of potential audience/customer.  Netflix added over 19 million new members last year with a good portion of these coming from Facebook users.

Netflix usage with Twitter has been a positive one and a eye opener.  Netflix has openly shared its Netflix content watched per second with the public and its quarterly financial results  though not a new technique show such transparency with the general public has had a positive impact. Netflix has also used Twitter to not only listen to its customers and audience but show its listening to them and show it wants to solve any issues or complaints they may have for example "Netflix Socks".

Now I'll talk about Amazon. Amazon utilizes Facebook with their central account which advertises retail and consumer merchandise, and are used to market their products and sales these are also changed and go along with current holiday themes. Amazon also uses other accounts on Facebook to advertise.

Amazon uses Twitter  as a marketing tool and a e-commerce. They allow their customers to add products to their cart through the usage of Twitter. Amazon also takes part in the "Social" of social media with their tweets often being funny  but still having advertising meaning in the background.

  1. Very interesting and well explained article. I like that you chose Netflix and Amazon which both provide streaming service. Two companies offering the same service is harder to compare, but you did a great job.
